Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised program designed to improve your heart health after heart problems or surgery. It can take place at an outpatient clinic or in a hospital rehab center. You don’t have to face heart disease alone. Cardiac rehab is a team effort that may include doctors, nurses, exercise specialists, dietitians, nutritionists and others. Their goal is to help you make lifestyle choices to improve your heart health. Ask your doctor if you’re eligible for a cardiac rehab program. If you are, ask for a referral in your area.

Who Needs Cardiac Rehab?

  • Individuals who have suffered a heart attack in the last 12 months.

  • Heart conditions such as coronary artery disease (CAD), stable angina, or heart failure.

  • Peripheral artery disease.

  • Heart procedures including bypass surgery, angioplasty, stenting, valve repair or replacement, pacemaker insertion, or a heart transplant.

Dietary Services Overview:

Rankin County Hospital District’s Food and Nutrition Services are responsible for the delivery of quality nutrition care services to RCHD’s patients, employees, and visitors. RCHD's food services include:

  • Patient Meal Services

  • Food Preparation and Production

  • Employee Dining

RCHD food service operation is located on 1611 Spur 576 within the hospital. Every day RCHD produces an average of 25-30 meals for patient and employee dining operations. RCHD sources Affiliated Foods and Sysco Food Services for most all groceries needed to prepare meals. RCHD all uses our local grocery store Rankin Drive In, to supplement between deliveries.

RCHD holds to strict food quality and sanitation standards. All RCHD food service personnel must also pass training on food preparation methods, safety and sanitation, and on hospital food service issues such as special diets for patients.

Patient Meal Services

As part of admission to RCHD, every patient receives a doctor’s order for what type of diet he or she should be eating. A "regular" diet means that there are no diet restrictions for health reasons. Patients on regular diets can select their own choices from RCHD’s daily menu. Menu items are chosen by our Dietary Supervisor with the guidance of our dietitian to ensure a variety of healthy foods to suit popular tastes.
